世界陸上関連の通訳を今年に入ってから何度かさせて頂いています。
開催は2025年9月ですが、私が最初に関わらせて頂いたのは今年の1月…大きな国際大会になると準備にも長い時間がかかるのですね。
オリンピック等の際も感じましたが、例えば大きな音を使った派手な演出や大規模な交通規制等海外では可能でも日本では周辺への配慮もあり難しい事もあります。世界各地で同様の大会が行われる場合に法律や慣習の違いを丁寧に説明し要望を擦り合わせていく必要があります。でもアスリートファーストで、そして何より大会の成功を願う気持ちは皆同じです。
スポーツの現場とは一味違う通訳ではありますが、関わらせて頂くと開催が今から楽しみになります。
今回は会議が終わったら閉館してしまっていましたが、今度機会があったら国立競技場の向かいにある日本オリンピックミュージアムにも足を運んでみたいと思っています。

I have been involved in interpreting for the World Athletics Championships several times since the beginning of this year.
The event will be held in September 2025, but I first became involved in January this year… It takes a long time to prepare for a major international event.
As I felt during the Olympics, there are things that are difficult to do in Japan due to considerations for the surrounding area, even though they may be possible overseas, such as flashy productions using loud noises or large-scale traffic restrictions.
When similar events are held around the world, it is necessary to carefully explain the differences in laws and customs and to coordinate requests. However, everyone has the same goal to put the athletes first and to make the event a success.
Although it is a little different from on-site interpreting at sporting events , I look forward to the event next summer.
This time, the venue closed after the meeting, but next time I would like to visit the Japan Olympic Museum, which is located opposite of the National Stadium.
