先日デッサンセミナーで通訳を担当させていただきました。
今回は、解剖学の理解をもとに動きを捉えて描くというメソッドで、そのためにセミナー前から骨や筋肉の名前をたくさん覚えました。
初めてお会いしたのは10年以上前。以降もさまざまなご縁で何度かご一緒していますが、さらさらっと描いていくその姿は、まるで魔法のようです。
ディズニーをはじめとする大手アニメスタジオでも教え、時差ボケになっている暇もないと世界を飛び回り、食事中でさえスケッチブックを手放さず常に描き続ける――そんな姿からも、学ぶことがとても多い巨匠です。
I had the honor of interpreting at a drawing seminar.
The method focused on capturing movement based on a deep understanding of anatomy, so I studied and memorized many names of bones and muscles in preparation.
I first met him over ten years ago, and since then we’ve had the chance to work together several times through various connections. Watching him draw so effortlessly still feels like witnessing magic.
He teaches at major animation studios, including Disney, travels the world saying there’s no time for jet lag, and never parts with his sketchbook—even during meals. There’s so much to learn just by observing how he lives and works as a true master.
