先日、東ティモール大統領主席顧問のベラ・ガルヨス氏の通訳を担当させていただく機会をいただきました。
幼い頃から数々の困難を乗り越え、東ティモールの再建に尽力されてきたベラ氏は、現在も女性の自立支援に力を注がれています。
当日は、日本国内で女性支援活動に携わる方々との活発な意見交換が行われました。ご自身のつらい過去を率直に語り、その経験を未来につなげようとする姿勢に深く感銘を受け、通訳をしながら多くのことを学ばせていただきました。
The other day, I had the opportunity to serve as an interpreter for Ms. Bella Garjos, Senior Advisor to the President of Timor-Leste.
Having overcome numerous hardships since childhood and dedicated herself to the reconstruction of Timor-Leste, Ms. Bella continues to focus her efforts on supporting women’s independence.
On that day, there was a lively exchange of views with people in Japan who are involved in women’s support activities. I was deeply moved by her candor in sharing her painful past and her determination to turn those experiences into a path toward the future.
